Hi,

Mate a while ago I saw a utube video about that put out by Springwood Marine. Search utube for Springwood Marine and you should find it...
Bloody decent of them I think.....

Re: What size disc hubs on my trailer ?
G'day Ian
saw you older post
http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/sho...-for-RWC-etc.&
There are several dimensions that make up the disc you need and lots of difference in quality avaliable at different prices with expensive not always being better. Your existing discs may be able to be cleaned up or even skimmed as opposed to replacing. They often look a lot worse than they are and newer components may be crapper quality but nice and shiny so to speak.
Put up a photo so people know how bad/ good that are.
You need the correct disc diametre
It needs to have the right stud pattern
Needs to have the correct bearings for the axel they fit on.
Type of seals.
These guys have a simple technical guide that will tell you what you have got in terms of stud patterns and how to measure it ( PCD) and also what bearings you have.
http://www.spinnythings.com.au/TECHNICAL_GUIDE.pdf
They also sell the bits so you can check out prices

Here is teh discs page and clicking on the description will give full details

For the inexperienced it is not a hard job but seriously find a mate of someone local to you so you can learn how to to wheel bearings and brake fitting and adjustment correctly rather than by trial and error. Someone who has done it 100 time learns a lot and someone with proper training will mean lots of little mistakes made by people that eventually lead to early failure won't happen.
If you wouldn't do your car brakes be very cautious about doing trailer brakes. It is not just a case of slapping new parts on as it is about getting a trailer to stop everytime your car needs to and a lot of Utube stuff has massive errors in teh way they do things.
Seriously consider contacting one of the mobile guys on the site and get them to show you how it is done and then decide next time if you are going to do it yourself.
Maintaining them once you get them sorted is teh key to not having to do big maintainance all the time.

Re: What size disc hubs on my trailer ?
Ian, if you ring Redco (Mayfair Marine) they will tell you which hubs you need.
Please dont act on the basis of the following, but I recall an earlier post about wheels to suit a Redco trailer and they turned out to be Holden HT stud pattern, which would of course match the hub.
But as said above, the smart and certain way is to simply contact the manufacturer or a dealer.
Mayfair marine email is mayfairmarine@ecn.net.au

Re: What size disc hubs on my trailer ?
Thanks. Email sent.
Think I might take the hub to Active Fabrications (Beenleigh) to get a match.
The hub and disc as a combined unit had me confused as I was looking at separating like for a car or bike
Cables and lights to replace next.. Just to sell the boat.. or do must people just not bothered with Road Worthy with private sells ?

Re: What size disc hubs on my trailer ?
Nah, you need the roadworthy. In fact if it's advertised and you don't have one it's an offense and people have been booked.
Active fabrications also have led trailer lights at pretty good prices while you are there.
You might be able to save yourself a heap of kms by dropping past Capalaba trailer supplies in Smith St, just near Trade Tools, they had good quality parts such as hubs, lights, brakes, rollers etc at good prices last time I looked.

Hubs off now. Some pics of discs. Better than many at the boat ramp, but heavily pitted with 2mm lumps and dips. Worth skimming, or just buy another set for $200. Nuts are 7/16, but inner bearing diameter looks like 22m Accor 12749 which are ford.

Re: What size disc hubs on my trailer ?
If they are 7/16" they are most likely holden HT stud pattern. I take it you mean the outer bearing being Ford Slim Line. If over the Northside, Probar are great for all that stuff too.

Re: What size disc hubs on my trailer ?
I think I paid $62 or something for a ford hub ford bearing. Get some break disc too.
The hubs come with bearings and are galvanized.

Re: What size disc hubs on my trailer ?
datamile your pics didnt work!!!!!!
I did mine last month and they were corroded pretty badly I simply knocked most of it of with a hammer then ground the rotors flat they will do for another year then I intend on replacing them.
Without seeing the condition they are in if you are selling you may have to replace them to get a roady.
Superchep sell the rotors and bearings together (click link)http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/onl....aspx?id=30205. After googling the bearing numbers I found out that mine are Holden HT rotors with Ford bearings pretty common on alot of trailers these days.
Cheers Axl
