especially if you have to hurdle over the item marto posted, I think the rod would be an impediment

Fishing for the olympics hey? Imagine the bore fest of watching 120 teams sitting along the Thames for 2 weeks with the 12cm Carp taking Gold with the Silver and Bronze shared equally amongst the other teams because no other fish were caught.

Great post. Of course each country would be a "team" of two paddling or kicking in the same Kayak and the record would be the most Kg/cm of the target species.
Democracy: Simply a system that allows the 51% to steal from the other 49%.

I could quite imagine fishing combined with the whitewater kayaking event .....
