SE2000 or SE3000
Hi I have a Seajay 4.2 Magnum Xpack with a 40 hp yammie power trim and tilt. It is brand new launched last weekend for the first time. I am thinking about a hydrofoil for it. What size should I go for? Has anyone got on on their 40 hp yammie? Does anyone know anything about peratrim? Be gentle it is my first post

I would try a SE 200. The permatrims are great but cost a lot more

I have 30 hp on 4.2, and se 200. best money i spent on the boat. think 300 would be too much lift especially if using boat at sea

Cruiser, why are you thinking of a hydrofoil?

I am about 140 kegs plus battery and fuel tank and would like to get in on the plane quick and stay there easier at lower speeds. I also spoke to a guy at the ramp who had one and reckons it makes a huge difference when trolling

I had a permatrim on a Stessco 4.2 Catcher w/etec40. Made a HUGE difference to planning and staying on the plane at lower speeds, made the trim very powerful, I could drive the bow down hard by trimming in or lift it high trimming out. See below for a short video comparison of getting on the plane without and with the permatrim.

Yeah I too am thinking of putting a foil on.... I want to get my fuel flow sensor first so I have before and after data.
I can't stay on the plane below 20 knots and can't push much past 6-7 knots without a lot of noise and wake.... I would like to get some of those intermediate speeds available even if it costs me a bit of top end speed.

Re: SE2000 or SE3000
Everyone save all your money and buy the LZ foils from Bias, big ones for big outboards and small ones for small. No handling vices like the old Stingrays, cheapest around, plenty of lift and if you don't like them you only have 4 small bolt holes to live with if you take them off. Last time I looked $45 up from the $40 they used to be. The SE Sport I tried on my 15'er didn't give me much lift compared to the Stingray I had on it but they have always been up over the $100mark. Dunno what they are now. Same for Stingrays back in the day, always over $100. They had great lift but didn't suit all boats down sea.

I have the Escape 435 Yammie 40 3 cyl tiller and IMO you dont need to muck around with any of those trim gadgets.I am 120kg and have had no probs with the ride for the last 7 years.Yes the Escape has 60 l underfloor tank but if your Magnum only has a portable tank put it up the front with your other bits and bobs. This 30kg or so will make a difference.Good luck and feel free to PM me.
