Re: DAFF Media Release - Know the limits if you’ve got snapper in your sights
Points 1 & 3 are the important ones.
1. Bream , flathead etc......... in your possession must have the skin on.
2. If in portions ( fillets or steaks ) that the inspector can reasonably determine to be a whole fish for the purposes of counting / measuring.
Let's not forget that the State government and local councils provide fish cleaning facilities at some ramps. Therefore you would place filleted fish in esky, in car and take home. That is the grey area / discreationary powers thing.

Re: DAFF Media Release - Know the limits if you’ve got snapper in your sights
In case you hadn't had time to answer Mark's question Phill.
This was the media statement on MP Mark's website before the election in relation to Labor's new snapper bag limit of 4 fish and only 1 over 70cm.
Shadow Fisheries Minister Dr Mark Robinson said the new bag limit of four snapper, with only one over 70cm, enforceable from tomorrow, would hit Queensland mums and dads and children. "Craig Wallace has presided over the decay of the state's roads – now he is wrecking people's enjoyment of fishing," Dr Robinson said.
The current Qld Fisheries Minister John McVeigh has said that his Gov has no plans to alter the snapper bag or size limit. We shouldn't be surprised by this because MP Mark also said this about a rec fishing licence for Qld anglers
"LNP have ruled out rec fishing license
Mark "
And now it seems Campbell is preparing to bring one in.

That would have to be a hell of a big bream wouldn't it? if the legal minimum size is 25cm, you therefore couldn't fillet them on board, come to think of it, that bream would have to be monster size to have a fillet of 40cm and I am pretty certain they just don't grow that big.![]()

Cant help but give my opinion which is that the Possession Limit is absolute B...Sh.t. . Should stay as daily Bag Limit. If you go on aSwains trip you cant go fishing again for a lot of the year. Luckily the wife and kids and mum and dad and all relatives keep their fish in my freezer as well. Just an absolute wank of a law.So there!

Re: DAFF Media Release - Know the limits if you’ve got snapper in your sights
Loz, you say it should "stay" as a daily bag limit.
That implies that it actually WAS a daily bag limit in Qld.
Sorry, that's wrong. It has always been an in possession limit.
But remember, once you get home, there are several people in most households. So the fish will be in the possession of a number of people, not just the one who caught them. Result = catch shared around and limits multiplied several times.
So it's not really a drama for most people.
Cheers
