Re: Wellington Point ramp. Users please read !!
scott, only business reps i was aware of was the point cafe owner. there may have been others. i was 5 minutes late as i was held up at work. i know graham from wello pt marine didn't know about it as i filled him in the other day and i know he is more interested in boatie trade than daytrippers buying a pack of prawns.
parking time is unlimited there and it would take a lot of trailers to fill the place. besides which i am uncomfortable punishing those doing the right thing. i would prefer it not come down to such a thing but believe that if it did, arriving at lunch time and boxing in those illegally parked would be effective enough. if it weren't, we could always plan a second meet and greet, on say australia day weekend?
thanks for the support.

Hey Davo.......email sent mate.
Thanks for taking the time out of your own busy schedule to attend and then report back to us.
It's definitely a problem that seems to effect us boaties more often than it should so it doesn't take much to have our voice heard so lets all get behind this and tell the council that us recreational boaties deserve a bit better than the current situation.

Re: Wellington Point ramp. Users please read !!
cheers adam. if we dont get wello sorted, you may well have just as much fun at manly. there are no "all of tide" access ramps between wello and manly and you guys will end up with some of the spill over from wello.

Re: Wellington Point ramp. Users please read !!
email sent, thanks for raising this issue dave as it has been pissing me off for years now. every sunday i go fishing i have to have fight for a park and usually end up 'politely' informing someone that they are illegally parking in trailer spots. they know what they are doing and just dont care. i got a ticket for parking on the bark on the median strip at redland bay last year as all the spots were taken, a lot by cars with no trailers, does my head in.

Re: Wellington Point ramp. Users please read !!
Just a thought why not fight the council on this and get photos of cars in the trailer parks along with your tickets for parking in illegal spots add to the kitty your Rego papers and go in a little irate asking for a refund on something be it the Rego or the ticket. I know Rego does not come from council but we have paid for these parks and ramps we should be able to use them.
I will be send through a email when I get home asking a council rep to explain why as a boatie my Rego is meant to pay for parking but I can never seem to get a park due to the fact that the cars take up the spots.
Just a hint with council as I used to work there emails will normally get ignored until you phone a councilor. Even then it's screened, and any councilor that you think cares sorry to break it to you but your wrong. They care for votes only which means we need to be the biggest issue of the day. Media is good for that blowing crap out of proportion. Once in the paper no council wants to be seen doing the wrong thing.
I prefer not to think before speaking. I like being just as surprised as everyone else by what comes out of my mouth.

HI Davo message sent mate.
bunch of tossers down there ,fill the park with trailers any day of the week that will truck em ,wish i was there .id be in that .At least there's no time limit for parking a boat trailer in a park is there .Up here you have to make sure your not parked in a ruddy park that has chains on them as you might not be able to get out if you come back late at night .
ANYWAY GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE DOWN THERE ,HOPE YOU MAKE THEM LISTEN .

Fill it with trailers and media. Make a noise to be heard otherwise it's just another mob and it will blow over. Did I mention MEDIA councils hate that crap cause they actually have to do something.

Re: Wellington Point ramp. Users please read !!
lucas. i hear you. seeing as there is some sort of plan going to be put forward i assume that means that they are looking at some sort of parking compromise - without doubt at the expense of us boaties. as there has been no plan put forward yet we hardly have anything to protest. atm it is illegal to park in a trailer bay without a trailer despite it not being enforced. i was hoping to give council an idea of the opposition they will face so as to consider their plan prior to release. once it is released for public consultation we can see whether or not we are being screwed over and consider some more action. i know for a fact they are uncomfortable with the idea of trailers locking in cars, police being called etc.

As it goes I generally do a loop of the point and ramp just about every afternoon on my way home, just need my fix... Lol.
So I will from now on take a pic of any car that is parked in a trailer parking spot.

Re: Wellington Point ramp. Users please read !!
Well It didn't take long to be able to show you guys the ignorance of the general public in relation to the parking at Wellington Point. Forgive me if this doesn't work properly as I am not used to altering pictures....
i.e. Blocking number plates. The arrows in pics 1 & 2 show available single car parking, and there was roughly two thirds of the single car parking spots at the point available at this point in time, the arrows in pic 3 indicate firstly that there is no visible disable sticker to suggest the driver is incapacitated and if there was the other arrow shows that at the time of the pic there was disable parking available, now I know that the point would be better made when it is busy, however it does go to show that this behaviour goes on all the time...Cheers Bingo (Dave)
