transducer questions for hds gen2
hi,
im about to upgrade from an eagle 642c igps to a lawrance hds (at this point im looking at 2 stand alone hds 5 units with LSS-2) now these come with 1 of 2 transducers 83khz or 50khz... thats cool.... but can i run my old transducer (HS-50/200-DX) through some adapter cable or rewire a new plug to it ??? so it works on the hds unit ?
most of the other queeries ive located thru existing threads
Cheers Chris

Re: transducer questions for hds gen2
Change the transducer Ozie.
I am 99.9% sure you can't adapt it across to HDS.
Further to that, transducers lose their sensitivity over time so it will be in your best interests to replace it.
Cheers

Re: transducer questions for hds gen2
Thanks guys,
I figured as much...
have pretty much decided on the 2 hds5s with the 83 khz tranny as ive not been in water deeper than 30 meters and the lss2 structure scan....just gota figure from whom, ###### marine seems the best price wise all up 2 grand with enough change for lunch...260 cheaper than bias
the eagle will find a permenant home on the yak
thanks again

Ozzie
Just one thing- I got a HDS 5m gps and a hds5x sounder. In hindsight I'd have got a hds5 combo in place of the 5x sounder. Gives you redundancy and also doing software updates is easier because the 5x doesn't have a SD card slot, you have to do that via an Ethernet link with the gps.
I have them linked with Ethernet and NMEA 2000, the Ethernet link gives me full sounder capability on the gps, and the NMEA allows data sharing between the 2 units.
cheers
