Re: New Colorado: anyone know anything?
I have to apologize. I told a bit of a porky pie in the above post.
I didn't back all the way out to the farm. I drove across the highway in the forward direction.......I intend on living for-ever....so far so good

Phil 2012 3L Dmax with 4speed Auto OLD Shape,
Brisbane to Melbourne towing 5.5m Glass boat on my way to never land 12L/100k's sitting on speed limit
Melbourne to Brisbane with 1600K's of Road Rage non Stop Foot to floor 14-1/2L/100K's
Guy at work is having issues with new 5 speed auto in Dmax flaring up and down like the old BT50's did.
Another mate has Colorado with 6speed auto and loves it

Re: New Colorado: anyone know anything?
Driven it a few times now. Haven't bought yet, still lining up the ducks. Should just do it, because it's a straight replacement, but the last few years have taught me to be very cautious with the finances.

Re: New Colorado: anyone know anything?
Tim,
I didn't even take mine for a drive before I bought it. OR any other Colorado.
I don't get emotionally attached to vehicles, they all pretty well drive the same these days.
The ones that cost over 50K have more bells and whistles and therefore, more things to go wrong and " service ".
Base models, like mine, simply keep going and going and going........ but I do wish I had cruise control on from new. considering my K's.
Colorado financed under Chattel Mortgage will cost around the $425 / month with a 30% balloon over 60 months. That's about $98.00/week or $14.00 / day or about $0.58/ hour.....
Servicing cost per year.. ( depending on K's )
$1000.00 Non-dealer servicing........... from a dealer $2500 plus............
First year tax advantage.
$3454 GST rebate....... + $7600 depreciation. = 11,054.00
you make 5100 in repayments.
you make a 5954 profit.. or at least a 5954 deduction off your " before tax " income
added to that the interest on the repayments is a deduction as well.........
BUT, you already knew all this..........
IMO... the first 2 years of a new vehicle purchase, you actually make money off that vehicle. ( tax wise ).

Re: New Colorado: anyone know anything?
Correct. The advantage is even greater the higher you go (though Luxury Car Tax is a bother). But I like bells and whistles, and I don't generally keep a car for long enough for things to go wrong.
I might not get a Colorado though. My preference has always been the Hi Lux and I'm now thinking that a trailer boat may not be big enough. The Colorado is all about tow capacity and I won't need that if I hold off a few months and buy something 35 feet long. It's nice to be thinking that I am close to being out of the wilderness, and may soon be able to do it.
So I may do nothing at all, and wait until I can firm up my plans a bit. I may also feel differently next week!

Re: New Colorado: anyone know anything?
Woo hoo. Looks like final DUCK just lined up. Bank Manager might have been hiding behind it...
I can get one with leather trim now. I like leather trim! Looks like the Colorado for me, just need that 3.5 ton capacity. I might not buy another trailer boat, but I still might. Hedging my bets I guess.
And before anyone draws any conclusions, it doesn't mean I won't be buying a boat at all, just means it might end up being too large to pull with a car. Something like this perhaps...

Thanks Phill for the Birthday wish.

Re: New Colorado: anyone know anything?
28 kts flat chat from a 30 footer with 740 h.p.???
Did they leave the sea pen on the boat for those figures?
Other than that it looks like a great style of boat.

Re: New Colorado: anyone know anything?
So when does it turn up?
Because of that damned Murphy fella when-ever I get another car or get a paint job I always bung a scratch in the most inconspicuous spot. (never brought a new car)
If I didn't a scratch would happen in the most conspicuous spot for sure.
