Light graphite spin blank
Hello rod building legends,
I am after a blank similar in style to a T Curve 661 light spin (rated at 2-5kg, 1-9 g from memory). My best friend in Sydney has one matched with a Twinpower 1000- it is really nicely balanced as an outfit for SPs etc. I purchased the 662 ( supposedly same deal but in 2 piece) for travel reasons but it is not as well balanced and front heavy.....dont really like it and going to sell it! I have now found that even if a rod is no bigger than a golf umbrella, you still cant take it on a plane in the cabin.......so, I would like to build a one piece.
Looking for quality blanks around 2-2.1m with similar specs (2-4kg, cast to
10ish grams) to match with 1000 size reel. As it wont be used a huge amount, dont want to spend a mint.....around $170 as a ceiling....but
would be very happy to spend much less if I can get the right blank. The ones that caught my eye from a quick look through these archives is Gusa UC70LXF (at the expensive end) Pioneer PU70LXF and Samurai S002X. If there is a great blank for less.....great
Cheers as always, Mike

Re: Light graphite spin blank
Hey Mike,
Maybe check out MHX or Phenix UMBX blanks - both from the states. Both are awesome blanks for the money. I think I posted some pics of a Phenix UMBX on this forum a little while back.

Cheers Lympho,
I wanted to avoid the import situation, particularly for one blank in view of freight. I have had an ultra quick look and most of the MBX seem to be for heavier line classes? Cant argue with the price though.
thanks, Mike
