Lowrance Elite 4 problem.
Picked up a new tinnie from Cunninghams Marine in March (thank God I got it before they went under) and have had the boat out only a couple of times.
When I get to about 15 knots or over the depth indicator starts to flash on the same reading and won't stop till you slow to nearly a stop. Only fishing in the passage , so pretty shallow.
I know buggar all about sounders and can't talk to the guys at Cunninghams to sort it. I did speak to the installer before they went under and he said to reset it. I haven't done that yet.
Just wondering if this is a common problem with a new sounder that only needs some tweaking.
Thanks
Brad

Re: Lowrance Elite 4 problem.
Could it be the transducer isn't set up properly??
I prefer not to think before speaking. I like being just as surprised as everyone else by what comes out of my mouth.

Re: Lowrance Elite 4 problem.
Mine does that if I have it set to "Shallow water" in the setup and I exceed what they consider shallow water.

Re: Lowrance Elite 4 problem.
Thanks for the info.
Will check the settings and maybe have a closer look at the transducer position. Maybe try it one noych down and see wghat happens.

Re: Lowrance Elite 4 problem.
did you mount the transducer as per the instructions? If not then that will most likely be your trouble

Re: Lowrance Elite 4 problem.
Transducer is first thing to check, angle it forward a bit (5 degrees or so) and set it deep into clear water.
Then check your gain is not set too high, it will misread the depths at speed if the setting is too high or it will lose the bottom completely.
Jack.
