Iluka 5/6/7 May

Hi Ausfish members, just wondering if anyone is heading to Iluka this MayDay long weekend.? I am heading down from Brisbane with my 395 allycraft , anyone know what's on the bite or recommend where to fish?

Freeeedom has put up a map of the area that should put you onto the fish.

If you search Saltwater Fishing reports under "Iluka", you'll see some of Freeeedom's results.

If you can't get out to Frazers reef, you could always try Sedgers Reef.

If you look again at Freeeedom's map in that other thread, you'll see at top centre he's marked a place called "luderick spot".

Now, a word of advice about that spot.

It's all private property at that spot, each block being approx 2 metres wide by 3 metres long. Woe betide the unsuspecting trespasser who ventures into there.

All these old farts go there, some of whom are even older than me, and they are all members of the Iluka Old Farts Luderick Fishers Secret Society or the IOFLFSS for short. And it's serious sh!t, very serious. There have even been turf wars there. Membership is by invitation only.

Weed is gathered from secret places, and the gear selection is also a closely guarded secret. Nobody talks. If somebody gets a fish, the neighbours either side totally ignore the catch. Did I say it's serious sh!t?

And i thought fishing is supposed to be fun??

Well Kingcray, you were spot on! The beer was perfect at Sedgers!!! Just like the fishing off middle wall last night. Got my bage limit of 5 Jew(mulloway) in just over an hour. All 60 to 75cm. Will post photos shortly

WTF??? You can't do that! It's not supposed to happen that way! How can you blow ins do that? It takes years of careful planning, and you just rock up and pillage the river like that? Bloody unfair it is.

Anyway, I notice that a bloke called Rob Tranter liked your post. Did you know he's wanted in five States plus the ACT? Have no contact with him. He's got previous at Agnes/1770.

Hilarious. I know what you mean. There are a few of them IOFLFSS members in Yamba too.. well not a few A LOT.
We stay at 'The Peninsula' at Yamba, and wall there disappeard the old luderick fellas would get along there. They would get REAL dirty if u fished off 'Their Wall'.
I don't usually like exposing too many secrets... but i believe that "weed gathered from secret places" is actually locally known as 'Black Magic'. It is old dead sugarcane leaves that they pull outta their cane drains.

They used to sell it somewhere at Palmers Island, but would never tell you what it actually was..
