Live bait, deep hole, night time = big eels (in the Pine, in my experience anyway)

Re: Need a big eel?
When I was a school kid I used to fish freshwater creeks and dams alot. I remember using fresh steak and getting some BIG eels...always p!ssed my mum off too that I pilfered that nights dinner to go fishing with
Turtles liked the steak too, from memory, and my thumb

Re: Need a big eel?
They'll grab just about any bait you throw at 'em, but best is probably live poddy. Bigger the better.
They'll be less active in the cooler months, but you should still find the odd one.
Don't restrict to fishing deep holes, especially on a high tide. They love patrolling the mangrove edges/flats as well.
And use decent strength wire trace if you want to land more than you lose. Preferably over 80lb.

In my experience best bait for eels is anything your using to target a decent fish, the mongrels always show up on my line!

Ive caught a few decent size eels on live poddy mullet around the 20cm mark fishing for sharks can never find the bully's but always found the eels(big sinker and big livie) and they'll find it.
