Re: Buyer beware springwood marine
All I can say is WOW!!!
After reading all 26 pages of this, I have certainly learned a few things.
I will certainly be pointing a few people out to go and have a read of this in regards to their customer service.
I may even use this as a bit of a training course at work with regards to the power of a pissed off customer in todays age of electronic information and social media. It used to be one angry customer tells 100 of his mates... now it's one pissed off customer tells 100,000 forum members who tell their mates.

Re: Buyer beware springwood marine
Had past dealings with and bought a new quintrex boat and hopefully ( after reading this post ) a new merc OB from springwood marine that was a less than a satisfactory buyer experience and left me out of pocket sadly and i have been very reluctant to deal off them ever again and certainly my experience with SM suggests Buyer Beware - so none of this post nor the attitude of SM really surprises me in the slightest - i will never understand why companies like this dont just sort these sort of issues out with their customers and keep them as good returning and recommending customers
cheers rob

Hi all , regarding customer service I just purchased a stacer 549 from Geoff at John Crawford marine and can honestly say the service & communication I received was exceptional ! They have won a customer for life ! On a side note I was looking at a couple of boats at SM & had 3 sale guys offer assistance in the 30 mins I was looking .

Re: Buyer beware springwood marine
Don't sweat about it, Makita. We occasionally get posts that are blatantly spam generated by someone who wants to promote their own business. Your "fault", in this case, was that this was your first post. Usually the guys who submit the spam posts all show up as new members with no previous posts so it is not unusual to attract a baseball bat if your very first post is one that promotes a business in some manner.
I too was suspicious of your post but on checking your profile, I at least see a pic of you with a fish. That at least gives your online personna some credibility and suggests that you may have just bought your first boat and are as proud as Punch about it.
I also admit to previously having made the mistake of attacking a new member's giving a glowing endorsement to a supplier on the assumption that it was spam and then finding out that I had made a goose of myself by so doing and that the poster was genuine.
Welcome aboard!![]()

Re: Buyer beware springwood marine
charlie you are a generous and obviously kind hearted man ( although you actually supported SM at one time ) and except for that brilliant piece you wrote on catching fish in moreton bay i would kind of ignore you but instead i do genuinely admire you - not sure i like the "goose" reference though - although of course i did buy my quintrex boat from SM so that probably says it all and i still carry a pretty bad taste from that less than pleasant experience
take care mate - hope the fish are biting for you although i do think you may be catching the ones i feed up to a legal size for you
cheers rob
PS apology makita if you are legit and for good fishing in MB just follow charlie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Buyer beware springwood marine
Thank you, my good friend, for the generosity of your goodwill.
May I assure you in the most genuine, unvarnished way, that my "goose" reference was entirely directed at my foolish, imprudent self and not anyone else. Please forgive my ill-considered choice of words if I have given any other impression.
I have become a little more circumspect since making the odd blunder in this way, which is why I checked the credentials of our new found friend, Makita, momentarily before I might have joined you in challenging the intent of the post.
Yes - once upon a time, I was a staunch supporter of SM but that was because of the way that I was treated there three owners ago. I have been disappointed at the aggressive responses that surfaced in this thread from the later ownership. That aggressive stance, which bombed miserably, has cemented my decision in getting my boat serviced at the very well regarded Wondall Road Marine, which I started doing three years ago after always getting it serviced at SM.

Re: Buyer beware springwood marine
I recently bought a new boat from a dealer who had the motor fitted by Springwood. Boat leaked like a sieve on the first outing. Took it back - Springwood had not sealed any of the mounting bolts. All fixed now but thats amateur hour stuff from people who should have something like that down pat !!!
