thunk, scrape, few choice words now i need advice
Taking the boat out of shed last Sunday, checked everything twice got in the car started to drive out and then some awful noise. F#$king forgot the bimini/rocket launcher was up
Jammed tight against roller door. Long story short I ended up with cracked windscreen and scratch in gel coat. Mate of mine reckons I need to drill a small hole at base of crack to stop it growing and as for scratch in gel coat what do I need to do if anything. I will post pics in morning if that helps

Bugger!
Yep stop drilling the crack may stop it from going further.
The gel coat repair will depend on the size and depth of the scratch. It may just buff out to the point where you don't notice it so much, or it could need filling, sanding and then polishing.

If the windscreen is glass get it filled before towing the boat..
As for the scratch, depending on the depth it might buff out with a good polish.
I managed to buff out a few scratches in my boat that I thought were permanent.
When I read your heading I was thinking you left the motor down for sure, the Bimini is a bit hard to miss...
Bet you don't do that again !!
Cheers

When I read your heading I thought you'd left a wheel lock on.
Ive done that. All ready to go to meet the guys at the ramp, I drove off and heard an awful grinding and crunching accompanied by some resistance to roll as normal. Many many expletives where uttered, believe me. The lock had been damaged now and wouldnt release the jaws of the wheel lock. I called the guys to come to my place, we woke all my neighbours at 5.30am with bashing at it with hammers trying to get it off, in the end we had to take the wheel off, take it to my work, cut the bl00dy thing off with the angle grinder (cut off wheel), go back and put the wheel back on, all the while blocking the driveway to my unit complex and half the road, you cant move a tandem trailer with only one wheel on one side !
We went fishing but got a donut for keepers, some rat kings for fun tho.

My expensive mistake didn't happen. It could of been a bit expensive and bum puckering though.
I towed it 1.5 Kim's back from the local marine joint with the tow ball release latch still propped up. Nothing holding it on the ball cept gravity.
Horrible feeling when I saw it and imagined hitting a bump then the trailer cavorting around on the safety chain.
Sometimes the accident happens, and sometimes it don't. I suppose the trick is to learn from them all. That's why I appreciate you telling us of your misadventure. Hope it's your last one and now is the start of many happy trips.

I've had a accident at home too, I had a short driveway with a slight slope, used to pull boat out of garage and it gained speed when it went over the lip of the slab then I used to rip on the trailers handbrake and stop the momentum.
one day the safety chain was laying over lever and got caught and I hadn't moved the wife's car yet and caved in her passenger door.
I was trying to stop it all the way and it landed right between the legs, luckily i Didn't get hurt..
Cheers.

What pisses me off the most was I went around the boat twice checking every conceivable thing, but missed the old saying of "look up and live" in all honesty it could be a lot worse.

And?
forget the embarrassment, if your out there enjoying the boat thats the main thing, you only live once, nothing gained trying to be perfect, if your enjoying the experience then just enjoy it, think of all those sad buggers who dont.
The beer is the same on both sides of the boat
