Garmin GPS Map 620
Am looking for a dedicated chart plotter in the $900-$1500 range and am leaning towards the Garmin 620. Although I dont know why as I had piss poor service with my 298 when it was in warranty and it has now crapped itself after 3 and a 1/2 years. But maybe its because of how easy it was to use or the fact that I'm just a glutten for a punishment

I'm just after a few opinions from people that have used this model, but am open to suggestions to other brands and models.
Cheers Marto

Re: Garmin GPS Map 620
I purchased one a few months ago and am very happy with it, however I was upgrading from a non-mapping handheld so big step up for me! I find it excellent for working my drift patterns when SP fishing, easy to use and the screen "locks" when touched so you can easily set your track (My old hand held screen rotated around and around as it updated making it damn hard to follow sometimes). The screen is excellent veiwing and the menu is pretty straight forward. Map detail is very good (Havent upgraded) and ability to choose between fishing and navigation maps is useful too. So I would give it a 4/5 but I'm no expert in GPS's.
Cheers

Re: Garmin GPS Map 620
hey mate much better way to go would be a gps map 750 touch screen for your boat and a dedicated in car gps, with garmins new in car free lifetime map updates you will end up with the best of both worlds 2 x touch screens and no extra charts to buy as both have them inc .

Re: Garmin GPS Map 620
it has all the features of the dedicated boat gps but not normally the cheapest option and very expensive in car gps but if the taxmans chipping in not a bad idea , could be onto something for quite a few people in the same boat , being able to write off a gps for your boat good thinking outside the box
