No I have not but maybe ask Boatboy50 (he used to work for Seafarer years ago) or maybe the Haines Grp who now own Seafarer.

I dropped the pic in and then typed afterwards.

Do you use Infranview to doctor your pics? Great program, just size stuff as AF requires, see the post on specs.

    Cheers

Re: Trim Tab size for a Seafarer Vagabond

l'm thinking about removing the buckboards & fitting the tabs & actuator, and then cutting the hole in the exact spot it needs to be on the duckboard by making a template up,
Oce confirmed by template only then will l be cutting the duckboard, does anyone disagree with this option and are there any down sides to removing / refitting the duckboards other than the neat finish of the silastic between the duckboard and the transom.
I believe that removing the duckboard is the only way to ensure the tab & actuator are mounted in the correct position, l for see to many risk with trying to fit the set up with the duck boards on and trying / guessing where the hole needs to be.

What do others think that have installed tabs themselves?
    Thanks

Tabs water tested today and what a difference it has made to the boat, was not all that choppy on PPB (half to three quaters of a meter at most) but into a head sea fully down it just ate it up and the landing was so much softer, side sea really did not have to adjust to much it was pretty good, now need to fix that trailer....

    Hey Mick,
Don't even bother removing the bolts from the buckboards as they will not come off, unless your willing to hit them with a BFH (Big F###en Hammer) and no l did not take mine off as was not willing to damage the hull or the duck boards.
Took the Father in law and l around 12 hrs to fit most of the time was spent drilling the hole through the duck boards as we did it very very slowly to start with and the hole came out pretty much perfect on both sides thanks to my in law who is a genius with this sort of jobs, l roughly have 3mm clearance around the actuator and the hole is not round it is actually oblong which was done with the holesaw, will take some pics and post later.

All in all once you get the hole through the duckboards it is straight forward from here on.

    Regards
    John

Nice! I'm heading up that way in October for a great reef exploration type trip.

You'd be better off planning for November. October can still have the winter SE trade winds. November is the start of the doldrums. Neap tides in November are a special for the big blacks up there.

Unfortunately, I can't pick and choose the timing. I'm going with Ash from Seafever, and he is fishing the Lizard Island comp. Our trip is to get the boat up there, via a week of exploring. Praying for some good conditions

Re: Trim Tab size for a Seafarer Vagabond

I have been thinking about getting a set of trim tabs as well. Fitted to my Victory.

Just had a quote from Wynnum Marine and they wanted $2490 - For the Lenco 9x9 .... I almost choked when they said that.

Is there anywhere / anyone that would be able to fit a set if I provided the gear? Any ideas out there. Willing to pay labour costs, just not the rediculous mark up on the gear vs buying in the States.

    Cheers,

Holy $h1t $2500 to fit a set of tabs, that is unbelievable, as mentioned l paid $600 for a set WITH LED indicator switch, there is now where in Aus you can buy it for at this price (yes we get ripped off all the time) just say at $50/hr for labour based on my 12 hrs work it would cost all up $1200 how can they justify $2500.

Mate best you find a mate that is good with working with there hands and has some logic as to where to commence drilling the hole through the duck boards once this is achieve all the rest is straight forward, believe me i was not game enough to do but mine myself, my inlaw is great with most trade related items and this was no different on this task, once he drilled the hole through the duckboard l did the rest, it is really simple, just follow the instructions.
