I like the light display also as its good to check where they are before taking off after say a drift...
One thing I did was hook my auto retracts up to my Nav lights switch on the dash because I was sick of them retracting every time I turned off the engine. I used the Nav switch because I turn it on at the ramp and off again when I get back to the ramp... Easy..

    Cheers

AND (despite the assertions of my more experienced colleagues) I do appreciate the benefits of the indicator switches. I cant see how knowing MORE about where things are and what is happening behind the boat can make me a less effective boat driver. You are after all not obliged to look at the indicators but they are there if you want them. You can also see "over the shoulder" of someone new to your boat, or say a grown up child who is under experienced and trying to get a handle on how to tweak the boat s handling. You do after all get a trim/tilt indicator gauge as well .
Its good though that what works on my boat is really only my problem and everyone else can sort their own favourite way of doing things, but it is easier to turn the lights down to off than to add an indicator later.

    Wouldnt be without indicators.

Brett You say you had trouble fitting the rams. I shifted the bracket on the tab back to allow the ram to fit. worked a treat.

If you contact Hayden Wylde at Wylde about Boats he can provide you a set off M80's 9x9 with a modified trim tab so that you dont have to cut your duckboard to fit the ram... Hayden was a long time Seafarer dealer on the Gold Coast, and he still have a lot to do with them.. IRC he sell the modified M80 for $1100

Can I suggest that you get hayden to cut the bracket but not weld it untill you need to. mount the acuator and the tab then select the location for the bracket. I went down this path but it turned out my boarding steps are located slightly different, or different step, to the template Hayden uses. You can see the bracket mounted at the back of the tab.

Did you end up talking to Lance / Aussie 123 on here who is Reel Tackle in Brisbane. His price for 9x9 is $712.22 and 233.31 for the kit ie $944.53 less AF discount? Cutting the trim tab is no biggy. Photos on here somewhere if you feel like a look.
    Is Hayden's price fitted Jabba?

    The Agony of Aging

On the morning that daylight savings ended I stopped in to visit my aging friend.
He was busy covering his richard with black shoe polish.

I said to him, "You better get your hearing checked - You're supposed to turn your clock back".

I'm not entirely sure on what Hayden's price includes. I'll be speaking with him tomorrow, so I'll find out then.
Thanks for the head up on lance. They look like great prices

Re: Trim Tab size for a Seafarer Vagabond

Stue2, My problem was that the Ram lined up just above the step as in my pictures..
Also I went to Bennetts in Brisbane and chatted to someone there and came up with this setup so I could have a flat Tab, I had to cut off the edges as they were turned down..
They work great but took a lot longer to install due to the top mount. In hind sight I should have went for teh longer Rams and it would have only taken a few hours instead of all day.

I had a bit of a battle too Brett but very happy with the results. I thought about going flat as well. With hindsight i would have mounted the tab and the accuator then put the bracket wear ever it needed to go. Tabs have realy made my boat. Well worth the effort.

Jabba, I think the price was $780 but I cant be totaly sure

    Jabba,

Thanks for Hayden's number l spoke to him today and price was $1300 fitted, which is for the bennetts, which l not that keen on putting on, l think l will stick with the lencos and keep the installation simple and cut the buckboards.

Hayden was great and provided me some great info with regards to my tinka trailer with regards to the center rollers, l asked are they all meant to be touching the keel, as l had been told by another vagabond owner that l should remove them and a mate said to me that l should ensure that all are touching the keel as two are not, so l am somewhat confused what to do, anyway he sought of laughed and said get rid of them as they will cause you more grief, l tend to agree as on two occasions l have been pushed to one side and gouge the bottom of the hull, his opinion is you don't need them, now what have others done with there tinka trailer, have you maintained the keel rollers or go rid of them?
