Thru hull transducer mounting alternatives
Hi All,
I have a thuhull plastic 600w transducer (flush mount) that I need to deploy as a recent trim tab install has left me with no space for the transom transducer that's in a suitable area..
Spoke to a few glass builders who have a preference not to drill holes in the bottom if it can be avoided so I was thinking of 2 options and would like anyone's thoughts;
1- Install the thru hull as a shoot thru transducer, heard of mounting in
PVC pipes filled with vegi oil to shoot thru??
2- mount the thru hull in the actual trim tab, looks like it might work but limits the use when the tabs deployed.. Unsure if anyone has ever done this??
Any thoughts to possabilities?
Cheers Christo

This has been on for four years. You might need to do a bit of fibreglass work if your boat is not alloy.

Option 1 will work fine had that setup on my old glass boat and it never gave me any issues even at 42 knots

The PVC pipe filled with glycerine works fine as does using a blob of silicon but neither will be quite as good as through hull. What was the issue with drilling a hole through the hull?
So many fish..... so little time
