Re: Just the Member for Cleveland who fishes
some classic stories about them..one early morning..the night cart bloke jumped the fence through our yard to the neighbours place..he got the can out..up onto the shoulder as always..started running across the yard..then all hell broke loose..the neighbour had just had a new Hills hoist installed..the can hit the hoist..the contents all over him..some rather colourful language emanated from his mouth.
Another time..the cart come down the hill outside our place..does his usual left turn atthe corner..oops..someone did not close the right hand doors..cans slid out onto the road and contents went everywhere..running down the hill on Buckley Street..took the firies a few hours to hose the road down.

Re: Just the Member for Cleveland who fishes
Mark, you sound a bit disappointed, don't be, because your time will come. I've had some dealings with an ex LNP candidate and not too clever is an understatement.
You're still young and full of enthusiasm, I'm sure you will shine. Keep up the good work.

Re: Just the Member for Cleveland who fishes
G'Day Mark.
You are obviously disappointed in not being selected after all the work you have put in .
I'm still trying to understand how you can be given the job as shadow minister but when the time comes not the ministerial role???
Hopefully McVeigh will see the importance of developing fishing as a way of increasing tourism as part of the four pillar policy rather than seeing fishing as just another industry to rape and pillage for the benefit of a few.
Cheers

Re: Just the Member for Cleveland who fishes
I am surprised that Mr Newman didn't make Mark at least the deputy minister but give the whole fisheries portfolio to Mark. That way Mcveigh gets to concentrate on a portfolio that he has some experience (or closer ties to) and Mark with runs on the board as shadow minister AND a degree in Marine Biology uses his expertise there. Seems like a win win for me and the work load is spread amongst the talent.

Re: Just the Member for Cleveland who fishes
It looks like Mark was first reserve and when our new Police Minister was sent of he got a start as Deputy Speaker and Chaiman of Committees.
Its good to see Marks support for CanDo was rewarded eventually
Its even better that we have an ex copper in the Police Ministers role.
You never know we might even end up with a Marine biologist as Fisheries Minister one day![]()

Re: Just the Member for Cleveland who fishes
Why don't we do something constructive like getting up an online petition to Can Do instead of just moaning about the situation?
Simple to do and might(?) have an impact - worth a try ..............
If nothing else Can Do will know there is a ground swell of protest out there who disagrees with his ministerial postings!
To be brutally honest to Mark, I have lived in the Redlands for twenty seven years and have never heard of him as being a VISIBLE BOATIES SUPORTER! I hang round the ramps, did my time with VMR - eight years - and never knew nor met anyone who knew Mark was a supporter of "us".
If I we a Pollie I would be around the ramps, marinas etc. letting Fishos know who I was, doing regular newsletter drops and spreading the word that I was a real supporter of the recreational fishing industry.
Maybe even a small regular editorial in the local rag, no good sitting in a office and then coming out at election time expecting to be recognized by we Fishoes at the last minute.
Oh yeh, I DID vote for Mark!

Re: Just the Member for Cleveland who fishes
Mark went fishing on Friday 27th with Revs_57 and me. We all caught fish in trashy conditions, around the 29's. No question, Mark's done it before. Bastard outfished us both for numbers, though Rhys caught the fish of the day.

Re: Just the Member for Cleveland who fishes
Yeah I asked him about that, but he was adamant that the Local Elections be seen as non Party aligned. Clearly there was a Conservative Mayoral Candidate in our Electorate (who beat the Green Witch Melva's pants off, thankfully, no more $million Koala signs & Green tape as far as you can see) who had his endorsement, but they are not fellow party members. He didn't campaign. I did though!
Yeah Greg, listening to Rhys and Mark kick off on Theology was... mesmerising! But it's easy to zone out on the water, so I had a great time. Peas in a pod they are. I think Mark actually has a Doctorate in some Theological stuff, and Rhys was picking his brains, given Rhys is in the middle of a Master's. I just have a lowly old Degree in Business, so I felt out of place!

I would have been out of the boat and walking on water if that conversation had started.
