Re: Sebile Knot and others like it
My head hurts just looking at those knots. I could not imagine sitting in a small boat trying to tie one when fish are going off around you. I will have a crack at the FG so at least I start the day with a good connection. The other option is to pick up 150m of Jerry Brown Hollow Core in 80lb or 100lb and do a short top shot and then just make it a knotless wind on leader
So many fish..... so little time

Re: Sebile Knot and others like it
I got some 60lb Hollow Core in high vis yellow, its very nice stuff, very supple and easy to push a thread needle through (yeah bought some crap overseas).
Though it is thick for the surf, was a toss up if I would put it on, so I put it aside for later and spooled some 50lb braid (which is also thicker than what I am used to).
I mean it is not that thick, I just guess I am waiting to get busted up by something big till I upgrade to the serious stuff.
The 40lb HC is what I was after but it is not available ATM, it would be the same diameter as 50 lb braid.
You mean a connector piece above the shock leader?
Cheers

No problems tieing the pr knot on the boat.Just use a fly tieing bobbin plastic cotton spool and wrap it 3 times around the arm of the bobbin. This gives just about perfect tension on most size braids .Tied 28 in front of tv one night to come up with this formula.

Re: Sebile Knot and others like it
Neil, you have a good point and it does not come down to one knot, I now know 4 main knots I use which only comes after practice. I have posted this one B4, and it is what I was recommended by Jones Tackle for fishing Hutchies.... After I sulked about losing 5 knife jigs in one session. This one I can tie in no time flat, I need to be able to do this with eyes shut and in offshore conditions when its difficult to stand.... let alone tie a knot. It might take a while to be able to tie an FG while offshore, so this one is 2nd choice.

Scalem,
The knot you are tieing is a tony jones leader knot as shown in Geoff Wilsons book of knots.I used to use this knot jigging ,but it was to bulky in heavy braid also you are tieing 2 knots compared to one pr knot in half the time.
Fishawn you have sparked my interest in knots again as i try every new knot i can find. Looks like back in front of the tv tonight tieing knots again.
