Hi mark, are you able to divulge at what time you first know that you wouldnt be fisheries minister? These things are often planned well in advance - and it would explain a few things.

I am a little dissapointed with the outcome, i hope the LNP looks after the interests of rec fishers.

Hi Lampuki. Thank you for your kind comments. I was first aware on the morning of the announcement (Friday). While naturally at first I was a little disappointed that I wasn't going to get the chance to implement our plans for fishing, I accepted that was the case and that Campbell Newman had a tough job in balancing his cabinet positions - considering all of the regions, the new talent he now had, the skills etc. I was also encouraged on hearing that my replacement would be John McVeigh, a man with much experience in primary industries and I believe a common sense person. I have no plans for a comeback, only to support John where-ever he wishes.
So I simply ask that you give him a fair go as the vast majority on AUSFISH did for me. I have no role for the LNP now except local MP for Cleveland, and I will continue to be a strong advocate for my rec fishers. I will continue to be an active AUSFISH member as I have over the past few years or so. I have appreciated all the constructive feedback that I have received - even some of the harsh stuff. I continue to be an avid rec fisher, and an average politician. The best thing about what has happened is that I have a little more time to fish. My kids are now on holidays, and the first thing my 13 year old daughter said today was 'daddy, can we go fishing now'. So I will find a day off soon and that is the first thing my kids want to do. Anyway, thanks again.

Hi Mark.

I met you once at an eco fisher's meeting some time ago now and had confidence that you would do a good job if you ever got the nod. Not to be.

You cant buy time. Enjoy the family - its the most important thing of all.

Bugger it ,now the world is not ending I will have to go and appologise to the Boss , for telling him what I think of him , and ask for my job back.
