I thought you were going up this year. You were getting your old mans hilux ready for the trip if i remember correctly. We decided to go earlier to beat the school holiday rush. We will be back in cairns by the time the holidays start.
Only problem I can see, is that the development road is still closed and the schedule to open it says POSTPONED TO BE ADVISED. This is a bit of a worry at this stage. It has been open in April for the last 6 years or so, but this year is different due to the late rain this month.
