Mercury outboard thieves sydney

Seems to be a lot of theft going on in Pittwater in Sydney targeting high end electronics and mercury motors on fishing boats. Be on the look out of cheap deals on merc powerheads, lower units etc etc. Sneaky bastards are taking whole 300 hp 4 strokes off boats while on the moorings.

A similiar thing was happening a few years back around the moorings in Seaforth and the Spit
people thought their motors had been stolen but thieves found some of them to heavy and cumbersome to load into boats and simply deep sixed them.Diver mate of mine said the seafloor around the moorings was littered with them.( Would have thought a 300hp Merc would be to heavy and cumbersome to remove at sea). Hope it didn't just get deep sixed.
