Re: BAIT vs ARTIFICIALS M&G 2012
Alright guy's ive recieved a PM wanting to know if Fisheries can have an esky full of ice at Amity for the weigh-in so people can donate their snapper, pearlies and trag frames for research.
If i was to keep a 38cm squire and fillet it at Amity to donate the frame wouldn't it be illegal for me to have those fillets in my possesion ???
I've spoken to a couple of guy's and they have said they will be keeping there fish whole till they get home, i will most likelly do the same.
SO IT'S UP TO YOU BLOKES IF YOU WANT FISHERIES THERE...YES or NO ???

Re: BAIT vs ARTIFICIALS M&G 2012
NO Tim, incorrect.
The 40cm fillet only applies to CRFF. Although you must leave the skin on other species.
From Fisheries Queensland.
Skin and fillet removal
In relation to coral reef fin fish, a recreational fisher:
or
- must not possess, on board a boat, a fish other than in any of the following forms - whole, gilled, gutted or filleted
- may possess, on board a boat, a fillet of a fish other than a blue spotted coral trout (Chinese footballer) as long as the length of the fillet is at least 40 cm, and the skin and scales of the fillet are attached to the fillet
- must not return fish to a boat that have been taken ashore from a boat and filleted, unless the length of the fillet is at least 40 cm and skin of the fillet is attached to the fillet
In relation to fin fish (other than coral reef fin fish) a recreational fisher must not:
- must not possess a live coral reef fin fish unless the person or fisher intends to immediately return the fish to the sea or to display the fish in an aquarium.
all good, then hey
- remove the skin from a fish on a boat until the fish is brought to shore
- bring a fish ashore and remove its skin and return the fish to the boat
- divide a fish into portions other than in a way that allows an inspector to easily count the number of fish possessed by the fisher

Re: BAIT vs ARTIFICIALS M&G 2012
Thanks for that info Phill
I always take my fish home whole so i have no knowledge of the rules regarding being in possesion of fish fillets.

Re: BAIT vs ARTIFICIALS M&G 2012
One small problem is your not allowed to return the fillets to the boat after filleting ??? ( I have been known to be wrong)

Re: BAIT vs ARTIFICIALS M&G 2012
Here is a picture of the prizes I am putting up - you have a choice of one from the top line scotch or scales PLUS one from the bottom line troll lures or fishing pliers or estuary lures
I thought it fair to add choices so I have something for drinker or non-drinker and offshore fisherman or inshore fisherman.

All packed and ready yo go.
Say has anyone started organising the weather yet??

Re: BAIT vs ARTIFICIALS M&G 2012
Trev,
Normally I would put my hand up to be in charge of the weather but it looks like ive got that gig for the 1770 M&G so I have a fair amount of pressure/work load on me atm.
Definitely don't let Fish Feeder be in charge of the weather if we leave it to him we will all end up in the bay following Net Maker and Mossy around all day lol
