    Talking New Fisherman Yeppoon

Hi All , I'm a keen amateur fisherman based in emerald. I've got a decent sized boat and am very keen to get out wide. I have been fishing manifold, preforated and Pearl bay lately when the weather fines up, I like to wait unitll I see a good weather report to make it worth while towing the boat 3 and half hours to the ramp.

so far i have had fairly limited luck, I have been catching fish, but i end up catching a lot of undersize fish.

If I could i would like to group up with some local guys who know the area or even if someone could share some information It would be much appreciated.

I would like to get out to douglas shoals or Karamea banks when the weather is good. If somone would like another boat to tag along let me know.

Hey mate, I have just moved to emu park from emerald. The best advice I can give is to get out to the reefs and find your own marks as u will find better ground and places that are less likely fished. A sounder that reads clear at speed is a must. Always watch the sounder for any thing of interest then go back and have a look. Be prepared to spend a bit of time looking and if u do find something hit it at different stages of the tide. 50 to 70 Metres is where I normally start. Hope this helPs

    Cheers from boony

Tight lines in August...... Am currently trying to secure a spot in that, while the missus secures a spot in the ironman the following weekend...... August is a long way away.
There are only two moments in time.... There's now, and there's too late.

Thanks guys, I'm looking forward to the tight lines in August, i'm sure everytime i bring my boat to the water it starts blowing 30knots though. Thanks for the tips boony, I have fairly limited time when i get over there so any ideas to help me focus my search are much appreciated.

    Re: New Fisherman Yeppoon

bnlbes just pm any of us a day or two before a drop in conditions and we will give you the latest

Wags, one day I hope it works out but we will get it together sooner or later
maybe sooner is better because everything offshore is firing from reds to trout or spannoes and the barras around here at the moment are nearly as good as last year

    cheers

    Re: New Fisherman Yeppoon

Mate only suggestions i have is if you have a good chart plotter fish east to north east of the harbour any where in the35/50 nm range and fish the contour lines and any bitof shoal that is on your plotter out that way, remember if not much showing on sounder still have a drop. old fellas say dont judge it till you have fished it.Iwould be interested in a 2 up trip just pm me and we will see if we can organise something.(good luck)
