Re: Logging on with VMR - what to say?
Totally confused now!! Some say "You can use a VHF to log on/log off with your local VMR",
others state "You get fined or imprisoned for even using a VHF"?
In some years to come we'll probably need licences to inhale the oxygen we breath?

I wonder how many of us adhere to the listening periods?

Little Skipper,
You are required to hold the certificate to legally use your VHF.
However, an emergency situation negates that requirement.
Common sense negates the requirement if you have a VHF fitted and you wish to enhance safety by logging on. But, yes, you will be committing an offence each time you push the ptt switch on the mic.
Cheers,
Myles

Re: Logging on with VMR - what to say?
I actually went and did my radio course last weekend at CG Redcliffe, so no jail time for me haha.
Seriously it was a very good course, and I did learn a lot from it. I will be logging on next trip out for sure.
