Freefall Lost on Stressfree

A few fishing trips ago the freefall to the anchor stopped working on the stressfree. I havent really looked into what could have gone wrong for this to happen.
When you press the freefall there is no sound of the mechanism pushing the winch into freefall.
Ive been using the lower button to lower (instead of dropping it). Has this happened to anyone? Could it be as simple as a fuse gone, or loose wire, or is it a known fault? Its faultless otherwise and as it still lowers and raises so I havent worried about fixing it. Just the freefall is handy when over a reef.

have read on another forum of the actuator failing as water gets into it...it could be this. But first I'd check the wiring to ensure all is ok (got a multimeter?) and that nothing is preventing the plate from being disengaged.

I have had three acuators die and i am on my fourth one apparently he is getting some new acuators from germany

yeah mine has failed also but didn't use it anyway so haven't bothered to look into it.
