Hi Rob,
I live in Airlie so an easy one for me and always happy to share my back yard. Also operate a great spot for a get together www.fishdvine.com.au so maybe can arrange a special Ausfish M & G night out for mates rates. Do a deal with BYO fish![]()
Should still be a barra or 2 around and always plenty of fish around the islands or our to the reef if weather OK.

Re: Airlie Beach April
OH and if you enjoy Oysters, there are plenty a round on the rocky outcrops of most of the islands, My favourite place is Scrub Hen Beach ( S20.10.290.... E148.57.265 ).. on Whitsunday Island. KC, you'll know this place.
Sit ans eat until you can't eat any more, then put one or two on a hook and cast out. Cod, Trout, Sweetlip and more...... right at your feet. Then pop across the channel to Hook Island for a dip, snorkel, glass bottom boat or Underwater Observatory adventure.
Langford reef should still be holding good numbers of Yellow Sweetlip ( Spangled Emporer ) and around Bird Rock try pegging slugs for Trevors,,,, hang on !!!!!!
be mindful of any special zones up there and the tides can rip up a current... !
One of the Fav places to toss some slugs is Dumbell Island ( S20.10.340...E149.00.456 ).... again, check zones, but always XOS trevors there that'll put ya arms off.
For a very close spot... run a straight line from S20.17.542... E148.47.863 down to S20.17.987..E148.47.822. Nice little gutter and at times holds good coloured fish. Don't forget to troll a livie as soon as you leave the boat ramp
The rest is up to you, but my advice is seek out Kev at his diner and get the word from a local.
OH, take some diving lures you cast..... say dive to 6- 8ft.... toss them over the coral at HIGH tide...![]()
Nilsmaster Invincibles... if they still make them
Cheers Phill

Getting closer Rod. Barra have been really on the chew but by April the first of the years Macks may have started. Watch the weather over the next 2 weeks. I will be up for a day out at some stage over those dates. If it is small tides when the weather is right we can hit the reds and macks on the outer edge of Whitsunday Island or even dash out to the reef. If its blowing you are stuck inshore but good grunter should be about soon. Happy for you to follow me around. What rig are you bringing up?

Phone number is 0414 785 462
This rain should have helped if it has buggered off by 11th. The barra will be going nuts out on the flood plains. It won't have had too much offshore impact but will certainly have stirred up the inshore options.
I'll look at waether a bit closer and see what best option is. We can either all go up the river, even just in my boat and walk out on the flood plains to one of the run-off spots, or have a combined day on the water around the island. I have room for you Phil with me.

Doo Drop in![]()
Kev how do think the roads might be on the way up?
If there a bit ordinary, I might leave the Steji at home and hope on getting a boat up there. Just listening to the weather in the background and it does not sound good.![]()
How far south have the rains come?

Re: Airlie Beach April
It's been p1ssing down big time. 1 meter this month. Roads are going to be a bit cut up and a LONG way to tow a 6 meter boat for just a few days. There is a mob here who hire decent day boats. I think their biggest is about a 6 meter polly with 150 on the back for about $400 a day. It operates in limited area and is not suppossed to run to whitehaven or wide of the Islands...BUT..particularly if you went out with another boat as company!
I'll track the number down.
The other (& best) option is a bare boat for 3 days...you can get these for about $600 a day for a 35 footer. I could get you a deal if interested. There are top notch and I know of 1 boat that is well set up for fishing. a 40 foot power cat I have actually had out myself with a few mates for a weekend.
This might still turn into a M & G because I know there are a few ausfishers in the region...maybe 10th April (Saturday) for a night out at the Rum Bar and a family/fish day at Whitehaven on Sunday 11th? If no bitesd on a M & G I can just work in to whenever you are here and the weather is looking to goods (for and Island trip) or any day after the floods settle for barra on the floodplains.

Re: Airlie Beach April
Kev sounds great
I tried the boat hirer mob and they wanted 5 day minimum rent for two days, if you can have a look for me that would be great.
We'rre their for a few days before our son, his girl, and her family lob from England, so the first couple would be great all though I would probably go anytime.
Anyway, if you don't mind see what you can come up with and I will leave the Steji at home and jet up with the hugs and kisses.
Cheers

Re: Airlie Beach April
OK...2 options.
1. Whitsunday boat hire. These are the day boat pollies. Call Jerry on 0415 330 361...Feel free to mention my name "Kevin from Fish D'Vine said to give you a call".
2. Charter Yachts Australia. John or better still Annie. Again drop my name as having recemmended you call them. The boat you want is "I think" tropical lady..or something like that "Say "The boat Horace owns" Its a 12 meter power cat, a bit "rustic", very well set up for a fish...the kids will love it and its fairly well priced. I also know that business is grim and most places will do a deal so you should be able to screw them down to a 3 day charter. 49466666
Good luck

Re: Airlie Beach April
Ok
After ringing around and mentioning names, (thanks Kev), I have decided to take the Steji up to Airlie.
Kev
any idea where I can park the boat while it's not in use, which I hope, won't be often.
I'm out of here Friday night, so should be there, late Saturday early Sunday.
Can't waite.
