Mounted minn kota riptide and deep cycle battery, extra fuel container (if you have under deck storage), dry boxes with all your odds & ends including tools and spare prop...

Do you have issues with the ride on your new boat?

    no real issues.
i just thought would keep nose down a bit while motoring slowly, otherwise have to keep revs up to stay on plane.
    just a thought.
was going to upgrade from 25 lt tank to 40 litre, but got to less at some stage.
how heavy are electric motor as i was thinking of getting one

Less fuel/bait etc down back on the return journey...means u can dispense with the mother in law up fwd. If its a following sea on the way home you dont want to plough ...so even more reason to hoik that useless ballast

Bags of garden stuff Greg...anything in thick plastic bags that cannot puncture. Sand for me...or river pebbles.
At least they're inert if it ever does puncture and not such a mess.

It never makes sense to me, to carry weight, for the sake of improving trim. There must be a better way!

Water weighs heavy and is safe stuff. A couple of twenty litre containers would put some weight. I have some square drums I got from a pub that don,t take up much space. Lots of diff 2nd hand containers about, farmers have heaps. You can always tip it out if its too much.

Been that way as long as men have gone to sea. Ballast often the simplest and best way to counter ride issues on even larger trailerboats.

Basic boating and getting weight right is important..often its simply to balance across the beam coz there's 125kg of fat bastard driving and sometimes to counter added fuel or anything u carry. All boats benefit from good weight distribution..often by a lot.
When u get down to very lightweight rigs it becomes safety issue.

Put a hydro foil on the motor. It will give you lower planing speeds and will help keep the nose down when your soloing. It may give better fuel economy too. We put one on our 4.2m dory with a 40hp on the back and it made it so much easier when driving around by yourself but didnt really effect it much when there was 2 or more pob.
