    Boat Buying Decision

    Gday Fellow Ausfishers

I am in the market for a new boat and was looking for some suggestions that I may not have considered.
I have a budget of 15K and am looking for a runabout. I wont be doing any offshore fishing but want a safe boat to take across to the inside of Straddy or Moreton as well as the rivers and creeks. I will be towing it up to Hervey Bay to fish the inside of Fraser once or twice a year as well.
There are usually just the two of us in the boat so I dont need something too big but also dont want it to be too small.

    What can you suggest?

    Thanks
    Greg

    Greg

Search the boat sale sites with your 15K budget as the criteria in the area you live and that wil give you an idea of whats about. What are you going to tow it with, not that this should be a major issue?

Then post some pics here and you will get some more input; other wise "how longs a piece of string"?

    Enjoy the quest

    Cheers

    yeah need to look at
    towing vehicle?
    Glass or aluminium?
Do you want a dedicated fishing boat or one with a few luxuries?
What boat have you currently got?
and yes, search the boat sites is a good start, even search just over your price range as most people will negotiate

4.55 poly would be ok. get the center console not the tiller or side.

    Thanks for the comments.......
I used to have a 4.4M open tinny. In the past I have had both fibreglass and alloy boats.
I am steering towards the runabout because earlier this year I had a fall in my boat and dislocated my arm. The missus was in the boat with me and could not drive the tiller steer so I had to drive it back myself. If it was a boat with a steering wheel she would have been OK. Secondly as she is my main deckie she has more confidence when behind a windscreen.

The tow vehicle is a triton so that leaves plenty of options.

I have seen a decent ally craft bar raider (4.75M) that fits into the budget. Is it worth a look?

    Thanks

Rowdy...Seafarer V-Sea. You'd get a tidy one for 15k...if you want glass that is.
Your deckie will appreciate the ride quality

Dont think too many would argue the claim these best 16ft boat made in Oz.

Tinny...you'll get a good platey in the 4.5 - 4.8m range for 15k. Go hard on the haggle.

Thats what I sold this for a few years ago....and paid for it a few years earlier!!

Is a 2000 Phil Curran 4.8m kit - awesome rig for its size.

Happy hunting on BoatPoint and the like...

I have a 4.3m cruisecraft rogue, with a 2007 50hp e-tec, 2007 multi roller trailer, navman 6507 colour plotter/sounder combo all vgc for 8,500. call me on 0438197839 or message me on here for more info. I take this boat offshore and it handles superbly fo its size, so it would give a soft dry ride on the bays ect.

    Hello Rowdy,
you are in a great position, spoilt for choice.

I don't know what model Triton you have but the older ones say 1999, only tow 500kg unbraked.
I know that it is a stupid thing to have in the owner's manual but if you have a prang, no insurance.

Funny you said that, I had a broken collar bone , and my wife couldn't drive the tiller to save our lives. now we have a 4.7 glass cuddy and she can drive it at 6 knots, you'll get something nice for the budget you have.

You have many options on that budget. i'd go a fibreglass boat for the ride quality.
