Thanks pinhead.
Heard of some good prices on these lately. The $8000 odd left in your pocket instead of buying a 150 4stroke or DFI 2 stroke takes a long time to soak up in fuel saving.

Re: Mercury 150 EFI Fuel figures ?
yeah, they're proven as pretty robust.
It's funny over the last few boats I've gone from regular 2 strokes, to a 4 stroke, then a DFI 2 stroke and now seriously considering turning the full circle when setting up my next boat.

Dicko,
as you probly well know, the only problem you run into is range, if your fuel tank size is good it wont be a problem.

Re: Mercury 150 EFI Fuel figures ?
The Mercury figures are in US gallons.
1 US gallon is about 3.8 litres.
20 US gall/hr = 76 lites/hr.
15 US gall/hr = 57 litres/hr
12 US gall/hr = 45.6 litres/hr
Something to work with.

Re: Mercury 150 EFI Fuel figures ?
Thanks guys. Have seen those tests, some good info, was just looking for some real world stuff besides their published ones. Lot's of independant info around on the 4 stroke & DFI motors, but no-one is testing the older tech stuff.
Have done up a spreadsheet with a million and one calcs on it. I have a mth or so before I have to decide. It looks like on a light boat swinging a bigger prop these are worth looking at for the $ savings.

Re: Mercury 150 EFI Fuel figures ?
Mine averaged 1km/lt over the 4 yrs I had it.
Problem I had was the oil sensor every 18months tripped and it sets off the alarm and turns your motor off. Restart each time, runs for 5 mins and turns itself off again. Mercury said it was a common fault in this motor at $150/ pop. Long trip home from 50 fathoms. (both times)
Change of brand for me
cheers

502 hours - older EFI (XRI) 150 - slightly less than 1l / km @4,000.
Still strong as an ox.
