If you want 2 spools go the 3000 sol. 4000 would be too big.

and the higher end daiwa reels dont come with 2 spools. bastards

Yeah Plastix, pretty much set on a 3000 Daiwa now. It's taken a long time but my med setup is finally coming together

The Luvias, spare spool or no?

I don't think there is a great deal between the Team daiwa Advantage to the Heartland so I can't see the extra money in the Heartland. What about a 3000 or 4000 Sol? I've used the Magnum with both a 3000 and 4000 size Daiwa and I think the 3000 is slightly better suited but only slightly. If you are offshore fishing then it would be the 4000 fro the extra line. I'm running 4000 Caldia Kix, 3000 Freams Kix, 2500 Sol, 2000 Sol, 1500 Team Daiwa Advantage. They are all equals as far as I can see.

If possible, could i get some feedback from Luvias owners about the reels performance?

    Cheers

I have a sol 4000 on my egrell s10 and love it. It is quite big for a 4000 reel but still quite light, a lot lighter than say a 4000 twin power. It feels great on the rod. At about $330 it is half the price of a hyper certate.

Surprised you didn't include the sol's in your vote, maybe orange is not your favourite colour......!

    Hey mate,

I have 2, a 1003 and 2000. Great reel and very light. haven't used one in the 3000-4000 thou but I am sure they would fine.

You got it Billy, orange just aint my colour and also, i thought the Sol and Stradic would be on par with each other so want something a little better than both. Want this setup to last as i've never spent more than say $400 on a combo and i love my med spinning.

    Cheers

MY favourite rod in my quiver...

Four of my mates also have them and they are an ideal piece of kit for what you are after. Imyself have a 4000 sustain on mine and two other mates have the 3500 certates. All are good but the Daiwa have both developed a bit of play in the anti reverse. They have both taken them back for the same issue. All I have done is replace drag washers and the shimano are fine. You get a spare spool with them for diffferent line class and save big on the purchase price. If you have to spend on the upper end items look at the shimano stradic, sustain, aspire, fireblood, or stella they are all great.

Re: Reel to match Nitro Mag Butt(7'6, 4-6kg)?

I'm now set on either a Luvias 3000 or a Heartland 3000, i know the Certate would be great but is another $200 more than the Luvias and then there's the drag washers and line to think about. Here's the thing, only the Heartland comes with a spare spool but i would say the Luvias would perform better allround. Is it really a big thing to have a spare spool? Whatever i get i plan on replacing the drag washers with carbontex ones and maybe getting one of those RCS knobs or handles.

Cheers to all who posted so far. Any more advice, opinions or tips?

Would anyone consider getting a Heartland over a Luvias simply because of the spare spool? would love to hear some peoples opinions

    Hey Mate,

Have had the 2000 for about year and half now and it doesn't miss a beat. It even went into the drink one day while out in my Kayak, had it serviced and no problems, that was 8 months ago. Out of all my reals, this one gets used the most. I think I bought it for $399.

Anyone know the weight of the 4000 TwinPower FC and how many bearings it has? Would everyone agree on that the new TwinPower models are an improvement from the old?

    Hi mate,
The Twin Power 4000 weighs about 345 - 355 grms ( specs from a Jap tackle site ) and has 8 bearings. The new model is an improvement on the old model for sure. I was looking at the 5000 but ran out of cash. I like them a lot but also like the Luvias. The retrieve rate of the luvias 3000 ( 81cm ) is highter than a Twin Power 4000 ( 77cm ) from the sites i have looked at.

    Scott
