Hopeless crabbers need help
Went to Deanbilla bay and Bannana Banks 2 weeks ago came home crabless just wondering where to go for sand crabs at the moment? Thinking of going again on Saturday morning don't want to come home with our heads hung in shame again
. Is it worth going back to Deanbilla or should we try somewhere else?
All advice greatly appreciated.

I guess it comes down to the fact that if you don't try, then you won't get any for sure, why wait untill someone tells you they are "on" be first to find out!

Re: Hopeless crabbers need help
Yeah we got into a few muddies last year right up around Karralee. Keen for a feed of sandies though.
Noelm, we thought we would find out 2 weeks ago and got none so am just looking for a bit of guidance, which is why we all come on this site to share ideas and knowledge.

Re: Hopeless crabbers need help
fully agree with you, but I still reckon to keep on going and trying different spots is far better than waiting for "news" and a lot more fun.

Re: Hopeless crabbers need help
Hey Scrubba,
I've only fished the bay, but i've seen pots regularly on the edge of the naval reserve banks near the mouth of the Rous channel. Not sure how far you want to travel but it's only about 5-10 minutes from wello point boat ramp heading out to he tip of straddie.. It's about 20-30 ft of water.
Oh if you have any heavier rods take em out and drift around for a few school mackeral, they should be a few stray ones around by now. good way to pass the time waiting for the pots.

Re: Hopeless crabbers need help
thats a long time ago...
all you can do with crabbing is to keep putting the pots out, and pay attention to where and when you catch crabs. You have to put together a fair bit of local knowlege to ge the upper hand on them and start having a reasonable chance of coming home with a feed of them every time
cheers

Re: Hopeless crabbers need help
that's what I was referring to (not having a go at you) if you had of stayed home "waiting" you would still have no Crabs to eat!
