Re: Advice on sounder. J.R.C FF50.
Hi Tracker and J-Man,
I had my furuno stolen and my mate sold his old jrc ff50, now he his overseas.where do I start, when I try to change gain,as soon as I go to search mode,or cruise the gain reverts back to where it was.I generally fish in 30 to50 metres,I wanted to clear up the screen as I have just found a terrific reef which is loaded with snapper, but I can't pick them up clearly on monitor.
If I could get a rough idea what your settings are for that depth,I could work it out from there.I really appreciate you guys answering.
Cheers Lew.
If you can dream it, you can do it.

Re: Advice on sounder. J.R.C FF50.
Hi Lew,
First up, put unit into manual mode (search and cruise will auto adjust gain and range settings). Be sure to have unit running on high frequency (200kHz) and set gain to approx. 2.5 - 4.0 (Gain setting will be dependant on transducer set-up and vessel speed.) set range to 30m and shift to suit depth (10-30m shift for 30-50m depth).
If you require any further assistance I am happy to help.
Cheers,
J-Man.
