    metals and other heavy's

I Have been throwing/trolling a few metals & sinking type lures around and was curious about how many other ausfishers spin or troll these types of lures and what techinics they use and what fish they target. any pics of different types of metals would be interesting.

yep the nannies and pearl perch also take a swipe at them. do you jig em fast or slow ? some times i will sweeten them with squid strips to get them going.

use metals quite a bit down this way.5-40gram raiders would be my favs on aust salmon and tailor.Halcos a close second.Been a little disapointed with the split rings on raiders(laying open) of late, been replacing then with a better quality ring or adding a brass ring to the split.
I find the best tech. for salmon or tailor is to wind flat out, stop let the lure flutter for a second and wind flat out again eg wind stop wind stop
Those soft tails work well on off shore flatties as well.

    Freshwater fish like 'em too.
Australian bass love metal slugs in the winter time. They school up way out deep and slugs of around 15 to 25grams are used to reach them. Cast out as far as possible, sink all the way to the bottom then three or four lifts of the rod tip and bang your on.
Both bass and yellowbelly love metal blade lures, which are flicked all the way back to the bank and produce good vibrations to ring the dinner bell .
I also love little metal wobblers, gently worked just off the bottom, they throw off enough flash and movement to attract fish.
These lure designs have been around for years and just keep on catching fish...love them.

Yes mate! wonder woblers are one of the most productive, best value lures on the market.
I have caught heaps of school macks, bonito, ribbon fish, spotted macks and even small spanish on them.and a few reefies too.

Yep i'm a fan of the Wobbies as well , I also have had lots of success with the halco slices as well.
Mattooy that is a new metal from Zip lures (fish head B&T) it has metal balls that help with casting distance the gold one is a diawa blade type lure which has light gauge hooks (Crap) but doesnt get anywhere near as many takes with heavy duty hooks as it kills the action.
The big white & red jobs are my new toys the pic is decieving as they are about a foot long and troll at about 4-5 m and are going to get a work our this summer on the mackeral.
