Re: Monduran Night Fishing . Yes or No?
Stuart,
Night fishing is FUN at monduran. Casting the timber or trolling up around the edges of the tree lines up the dam. Basin is OK, plenty of boats around the full moon.
Just be careful of the timber when travelling at night, its pretty hairy!
Early morning (3am to and including sunrise) has been the best time night fishing for the blokes around here. particulary around the full moon. New moon is pretty scary, and to be honest, I havent had that much success after dark on the new moon. Day is best for that IMHO.
Hope that helps. Steve

Re: Monduran Night Fishing . Yes or No?
Nagg, you just reminded me!! I was chasing a barra through the trees one night last year and I electriced thru a big spider web!!
I squeeled like a 5 year old girl!!! Wasnt sure whether to fight the fish or try to locate and kill the big arse spider I thought was on me somewhere. .....I lost both in the mayhem!
Night fishing has its hazards!!! Mozzies and bugs are a pain too. But if the fish are on...its all worth it!
cheers steve

Re: Monduran Night Fishing . Yes or No?
What exactly are those spiders on the trees???
The night time is when all the real fishing begins, come on,hooning up the dam at full trottle, with the spotty going watching the GPS, Heart racing stuff.
I love the night fishing, the poppers, the frogs, the BOOFS, sounding like a shotgun going off, i am getting excited.
My advice is to do a day run to your intended destinationS, and make a trail on the GPS and try to follow it as closely as you can, with the spotty out for good measure.
Last trip Vin hooked and landed a 115cm job, pitch black, spot lights, main motor going full throttle in reverse around trees and stumps, the best fishing effort i have seen on the dam so far!!!!

Ahhhh The old spider web two step ......That would not be nice on a boat ..... you just cant do that terrified ( but necessary ... Peter Garrets- Midnight Oil style dance) ..... with arms going everywhere brushing every part of the body
)

Re: Monduran Night Fishing . Yes or No?
Thanks to all,
Sounds like its worth giving the night stuff a go. Will try it out when up there in a few weeks. And I'm with you SteveB I wolud scream like a 5 year old girl to. Not into spiders so might stay away from the trees. Although it would be funny to see it happen to someone else provided they werent in my boat. Thanks again and may the Barra be scared.
Stuart
I'd rather fish for a week without catching fish than go to work for a day.

Yep, the night fishing is fun, especially at Monduran....Navi and Vinny are hard to see though in the darkFoxie...where's that photo again?
Ben's right....the spotty, the GPS plot, keen eyesight and a sense of alertness about your surroundings.....they are your best friends in the dark. Just take your time and stay alert and you are on the right track.
Cheers
