Etec Problems
i bought an etec 90 , had it 16 days done 13.5 hrs and the problem is it uses bugger all fuel 41nm for 25 litres and the oil i have used about 500mls in 13.5 hrs and that includes the double oil for the first 10 hours. and it its quite ,odourless.
have to say after also having a new efi yammy this year that i hav made the right choice for my own needs. yamaha was awesome but etec has my vote hads down so to speak.

Re: Etec Problems
There a beautiful thing the E-tec... I have a 250hp pushing a 5.9 Seafarer... Since I came off the 2x oil period, the motor has improved to a level I thought was not possible for an outboard...... How does 1lt per 3.85km on smooth water sound, and 1lt per 2.5 when I am outside... And I am still using the last off my XD50 on oil ratio TC-W3.... But it gets better... I have been told by a number off E-tec dealers that when I switch to XD100 my economy will improve more again.....
Oil consumption is lower then I expected... On my first inspection I guess I had used 7lt in my first 10hrs... Then when I filled the reservoir, it was full after 3lt.... Now the oil level barley moves... I think when I switch to XD100, I will use about 3000lt off fuel to 19lt off XD100......
E-tec = Magic
Oh if you have not tried the New Viper II prop from BRP.. Then do yourself a favor and try one..... There bloody awesome... Hold the water well, great for trolling and great mid range mileage for speed and economy...

Re: Etec Problems
On the Goldy there are 3 E-tec dealerships that I know off.
Paradise Point Marine. Long time a go I had a problem with there service.. But recently I tried them again and I can not fault there service and knowledge on the product they sell... I will be a customer off theres from now on....
Logan River Marine... The worst attitude I have ever seen by a sales person....
Hinterland Marine... Not the cheapest, (That went to Slade) But they were the most professional and most courteous... They got my sale..

Re: Etec Problems
Just checked my hrs on my etec 90 today, 76hrs, and the fuel economy just seems to keep getting better.
Wonder what sort of hours you would consider an engine well and truly run in and completely settled for its life?? 100 maybe?
Well pleased with it anyway, with all the press from the knockers, I keep expecting it to spit a piston out or something, but we just take it out and run it hard every time and it just delivers.
Uses less fuel than my previous 40hp Merc (straight 2 stroke)

Re: Etec Problems
Strewth, I Thought I Was The Only One With That Problem. Done 12.2 Hrs, Used 75l And Travelled 115nm. Wow!!! Then It's Supposed To Get Better.
Cheers, Geoff

Re: Etec Problems
This has got to be some kind of record.
No,not the performance and fuel economy of the E-tec. Anyone that has one is already aware of what a beaut motor they are.
I'm referring to the fact that,so far, not one ignorant knob has yet spoken out of there ass in bagging out the E-Tec after nearly 3 days.
hmmmm........maybe I've spoken too soon.
