    renovating split cane rod??

    hi all
just wondering if anybody knows anything about renovating split cane rods.
i have a salmon spinning rod that was my dads, it's probably 40 y.o. i think it is a Hardy (man holding rod in gold oval logo). i thinks its called a "Lyca". i've googled this and can't seem to find any info on it.

    thanks
    al

    Al,
I suggest you look at the Rod Bulders Guild.
They have some experts there on split cane/bamboo.
They recently had a class (in the US) recently on building them
    http://customrodbuildersguildforum.zeroforum.com/
There should e someone there that will be able to tell you what materials are available today to retore it to original.
    Cheers,
    Owen

    Re: renovating split cane rod??

Hi , i've been making Hex, Quad and 2sq split cane rods for 4 years now, my best advice to you is to have a look at www.rodbuildingforum.com what some of these guys don't know about making, refinishing Boo isn't worth knowing and they're a friendly bunch to boot.

    hope this helps
