Squid fishing with a light
I have done this before and had some success with jigs. Just wondering how other people get them when they are attracted to the light. I plan on hitting up the fingermark tommorrow though the squid are ccming to the light but wont take the jigs. Any suggestions????

Try a small yozuri rather than a cheap copy then revert back to a pilly or baitfish on one of those prong style jigs. This often works. Plan C sees the cast net in action. Some nights they just don't want to play fair

Light and a decent size sccop net with small mesh should do the trick. Just come up behind them.
Good Luck

Popular pasttime in Bowen is to spear them under lights , Ive been up to the bowen jetty at night and they lower car head lights attached to long leads just above the water which attract small fish which inturn attract the squid, the perfered weapon is a broom handle drilled out with a 1/2 inch drill and then filled and glued with about 50 sharpend bike spokes , as the the squid come in for the bait fish their are dealt with a barrage of spears.
