Cooking Trout
I know that smoking trout is probably the way to go. But if I only have an oven and fry pan ie no BBQ how can I cook my trout to perfection? Do I cook it whole or fillet and pan fry?? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Cooking Trout
Sometimes a good idea to use Google.
I'm assuming you mean freshwater trout and not coral trout
I used the string: "trout recipes" and found thousands including the following site:
http://www.############.com/resource...rout_index.asp
which has recipes for the following:
Italian Baked Lake Trout Recipes
Baked Mushroom-Stuffed Trout Recipe
Baked Rainbow Trout with Tomatoes
Baked Lemon and Herb Trout Recipe
Cajun Microwaved Trout Recipe
Cedar Plank-Smoked Steelhead Trout Recipe
Crab-Stuffed Trout Recipe
Grilled Rainbow Trout with Orange Teriyaki
Grilled Smoked Trout Recipe
Louisiana Crusted Trout Recipe
Trout Mousse
there are lots of other sites with other recipes.

Re: Cooking Trout
Hi
This is a recipe I made up when living in Albury-Wodonga:
Take a couple of skinned and boned trout fillets, and poach in the following ingreadents:
no measurements, just add what you feel is right for you, finely diced capsicum, shallots and whichever of the following 3 main ingreadents to taste- ginger, garlic or chilli, with a very liberal splash of a white wine of your choice.
When cooked serve on a bed of jasmine rice and pour the left over juice over the top as a sauce.
Cheers Ian

Re: Cooking Trout
hello again fish-o-holic
you only had too ask and i shall lend (thought u knew i had a smoker)
only you will have too wait untill the 26th sept as i'm off to cooma for a week
call or pm me if you wish to borrow it
the trout can tend too taste a bit muddie this time of year as they are still coming out off late spawn
around xmas time or after that would be the best time of year for any other way of cooking other than smoking
cheers once

Hey once bitten - I heard you were off to cooma soon - fear not though as I do have a fish smoker at home just didnt have one in Jindabyne last weekend for smoking 6 trout all of which were caught by my partner in crime (u know who).
Ski seasons over now so its back to catching some real fish in the ocean. Tight lines!!
