Hi Gang
Joined here some time ago but never got around to posting - thanks to Steve for sorting me out again!
Some of you will know me already, a lot won't.
OK - LOVE FISHING AND BOATING - no surprises there huh?
Predominantly into bottom bouncing and trolling - out from Albany on the southern coast of WA.
Boat is a 5.83m Carribean Adventurer Cuddy which I bought new over 2 years ago and had it extensively retro-fitted - targa, rocket lauchers, deck lights, GPS, Fish Finder blah blah.
More than willing to share info - except my GPS spots.
Looking forward to (re)being part of the online community, exchanging info and comment - and increasing my information.

Hi Cam
Thanks for the well wishes matey
Well, I don't believe in forum egos based on knowledge or any other reason
just here to help out and be helped. Exchange ideas etc .
On catching fish? I do OK, but there's plenty still on my 'not caught' list.
Thanks too Cam for the comments on the boat!

Hi Again Cam
As to the site, yes, so far I'd have to agree . With so many on here, there certainly seems to be a great opportunity to exchange info. Let's face it, we all fish in water with the aim to catch fish and (pretty much) have the same gear available to us.
Yes you are right, but it's spelt Dhufish, not to be confused with Jewfish, which is a completely different species.
As to catching them, well some guys, who know there spots and the underwater terrain, seem to catch there limit. They're what's referred to in WA as a Category 1Demersal (bottom) fish - along with a few other species, like pink snapper, baldchin, breaksea (black arse) cod - so you are only allowed 1 or 2 per daily bag limit. Personally, I would only keep one.
But they're very susseptable to baratrauma - so you usually need to deploy a release weight when returning them to the water.
In all my (boat) fishing years(, I've only caught about 10) and non down here (Albany) so far.
They're considered one of the best table fish, and a well prized and sought after.

A pleasure to clarify matey!
...now if I can just get this post increment/profile issue sorted out (sent Steve and email and posted in the Help forum) ....maybe I need to send Steve some money
