ps I actually LIKE the sound of nature - like that pissed idiot on the houseboat screaming out & banging pots 'n pans near short island when you're fishing for jew on a neap tide - all of gods creatures ....

some gun whiting boys in the nerang actually start their engines to bring the fish back ON when the bite tapers.

Never been one to put much thought into it...I haven't got a radio as yet...but guezzz my missus can scare the sh*t out of anything that could possibly be interested in my bait at the time.

I will investigate further & get back to us all...in the mean time, may I suggest to leave the radio behind - your just going to upset that old bloke again !

Hmmmm DC. I have just bought a portable DVD player for the boat. I figure I can always watch porn on it when I am doin' an overnighter.
I CAME INTO THIS WORLD KICKING, SCREAMING AND COVERED IN SOMEONE ELSES BLOOD. I HAVE NO PROBLEM GOING OUT THE SAME WAY.

Dual Batteries mate. Great big marine ones. Never seem to need the second one though. Mind you, I only hammer the shit out of the sound when I am moving or pissed and camped up for the night. he he he he I used to have some fun nights in horseshoe bay last year before I moved to gladdy.

LoL NEWBY, thats gold. I can imagine 'the sounds of porn' belting out over the water. I wonder what Jenna Jameson sounds like at 4200watts. Thats sure to 'turn the fish on' - if you know what I mean LMAO

    Re: Radio's and Fishing

Hmmm.. the most significant issue is this - your radio is a receiver of signals not a transmitter.. therefore the unit does not project a signal (nor does it have any output power) whatsoever - it only receives those signals already present in the atmosphere - so if the fish can hear em they can hear em whether u are there with your radio on or a hundred miles away catching zzzzz's! The answer is its irrelevant whether your radio is on or not - transmitting radios might be different but i suspect the frequencies are way way way outside those able to be detected by fish (similar to us - we cant hear a 20khz tone but they are all around us i suspect!) Ciao!

    Re: Radio's and Fishing

    Not quite right.

Radio recieves radio waves (electromagnetic and always present).
Than the little gnomes inside turn them into sound waves (these are vibrations of air).

If the radio is placed in such a way that vibraions of the actual radio can not get transmitted onto the object (boat, rock etc.) for instance on a cushion or a piece of foam there is no way the sound waves from the air will get into water.

Sound does not penetrate water/air barrier very well.

So I would say that the loudest radio if properly pleced will not get any sound into the water.
Might make people around a bit "unhappy" though.
