Re: WEEKEND WORKSHOP FOR ROD BUILDING/BINDING

    Hey Roz,
I'm interested in starting to roll my own as well, but live in NQ. No way I could make it to Bris. Can you direct me where I might get some info on it? Books, people to call, web sites etc would all be most welcome.
    Cheers
    Craig

You should get the bloke from GCCR to go as he has them new blanks from USA
I was talking to a game fisho the other day and he said they were going to hit the market like a bom shell .

I have been following this thread, but am unable to confirm my attendence.

I do however, have a social function in Brisbane around the end of June, and maybe I can tie this in.

Look forward to more details Roz.

Re: WEEKEND WORKSHOP FOR ROD BUILDING/BINDING

I’m certainly looking forward to the rod building weekend. I have tried putting some thing like together a long time ago with only one interested person, maybe I needed that feminine touch, hay. I will give as much info as possible with out clogging up the grey matter to much. I will also try to cover as many topics as possible that are relevant to your current skill level. I hope as many people turn up as have replied to this post; it should be a great weekend. I will also be bringing some rods along to show people what is possible, see you their. I think Rozz has advised what you guy’s need to bring in terms of rod building gear, blanks, thread and what ever else you need or want built, we can do it all right there and then.

Good luck Roz and Stu. I hope you get a great turnout. Books and chatboards are good, but nothing beats seeing it done in person and being able to ask questions, get advice etc. Good on you both for making it happen. Just wish I could be there!!

Re: WEEKEND WORKSHOP FOR ROD BUILDING/BINDING

I have now made the commitment to be in Brisbane that weekend, and attend the RB thingie !

Selected a rod blank.............." Synder Glas Magnum Series Speciality M10 "

using fuji h/duty guides with a 10mm tip. I want this so my wind-on leader will have no trouble.

Further, I will be shaping my foregrip to suit my hand grip.

    Thread colours..........??????

Look forward to catching up with the rest of you and in particular Roz and Stuart.
