My two bobs worth (for what its worth ),I cast INTO the tidal run (helps push the franger to the bottom) wait till it hits the bottom 2/3 quick upright flicks without winding, then alternate 2 or 3 cranks stop wait till sp hits bottom again then crank, this way you know its hitting bottom & in sandbank areas you will be getting the telltale "puff" of sand each time the sp hits the bottom just like a prawn or small fish would cause when darting off.You will quite often feel a strike as the franger is sinking back down,If that doesn't work after awhile I just get p*ssed off & dive in & stick my thumb in their gob.!! .Cheers Touchy.><> ><> ><>.

I'm going again tomorrow morning to have another fish. Last time when pumping yabbies I noticed a few schools of whiting around the 15cm mark swimming around in the shallow water, good live bait.
Question.
1. Is there a size limit on winter whiting?
2. If not what is the easiest way to tell the difference between summer and winter whiting?
Just making sure as i want to do the right thing buy the size limits etc.

Generally you only find Sand Whiting/Summer Whiting swimming in the clear shallow waters on a sandbank.
No legal size yet for Winter/Diver Whiting.
