One of the good trout.
No billfish this year but still a good time (congratulations Bugman on your Mooloolaba sailfish). Our first few trips out to the reefs were on totally flat days with not a breath of wind which resulted in pretty average catches but fantastic days on the water. The locals reckoned there wasn't enough movement in the water to get the fish active but nobody really cares when your surrounded by pristine reef. The wind did eventually pick up a bit (not sure if made the difference) but we scored some trout and got smoked by some big fellas. We got a few small spaniards, tuna and trevally mixed in as well.
got a couple of tea leaf trevally on bottom rigs that pulled pretty hard.
Your right mate, you can't complain about poor catch rates when the weather conditions treat you so well. Just love being out there when conditions are that good. Some nice trout and a nice little red for your troubles anyway.
Cheers Ron
