    Caloundra 4/10

Out with George to fish Caloundra and the weather looked pretty good. There was a bit of a swell running which made the trip out a lot quicker. But no sooner had we arrived when up came the wind. We were in two minds, whether to stay or head home but we stuck it out as the wind didn’t increase so we put up with the discomfort.

Two drops and managed a small cobe and then George latched onto a 6kg snapper on a livey. Things were looking up and the chop began to look smaller and smaller (it wasn’t).

Fish then went off the chew and we didn’t manage much else until the bottom of the tide when the bait showed up in huge schools. My livey was smashed and I was rapidly loosing line and nearing the bottom so we pulled in the parachute and gave chase. Forty minutes later a bloody great Whaler??? rolled over on the surface. Though it may have been a monster cobe, bugger.

After a short breather back to the drift and George comes up with a snogger cod, his PB. By that time it was around 2pm and the wind was up again so we pulled the pin. All fish taken on livies and best results at the bottom of the tide.

Flesh on a cod that size is quite coarse but still has the flavour. Good done in mornays. Great pics and fine catch. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] Cheers mike
