    Nerang Breamin

Went to the Ausbream Social today, 5 boats started from the Casino ramp in pretty crappy conditions, 15 -20kt Southerlies and a steady drizzle. My deckie for the day was Davud K, and we decided to hit the canals around the Casino to try and get out of the wind.

Davud boated the first legal bream around 1/2 hour into the session from under a pontoon and I followed up about 10 min later with my first, both fish around 25cm to the fork. Davud's lure of choice for the day was Berkely Gulp 3" Minnow in pumpkinseed, while I stuck with the new 3" Berkley Gulp Fry, also in pumpkinseed.

The next 3 hours saw both of us get our 3 fish limits each with Davud getting a 24 & 27cm fork and me getting two that just made legal at 23cm fork, plenty of undersized also landed, as well as me dropping a 60cm plus flattie at the boat > (only 6lb leaders for the day) as we1l a 45cm around 10 min later.

I upgraded twice in the last hour with a 28cm and 27cm fork from a bridge pilon and under a moored boat.

We headed back to the weigh-in in good spirits with good fish in the well and plenty boated. Davud's 3 fish weighed in at 980grams and mine weighed 1.180kg. I finished second only missing out on top points by 20grams to Matt from Nitro.

All in all a good day in spite of the weather.

    Cheers

    John

Well done JT. I ended up opting out at the last minute. From all reports sounds like some good fish caught.

    Cheers,

    Cheers Guys,

Yeah Gutsy, inspite of the weather it was a good day, funny how when you are catching fish you don't notice the weather. Not sure about the date but the next Social will be up at Bribie, not sure if I'll make it, I am fishing the Awoonga round of the ABT Barra Classic, will you be up there?

Your right Matrix, don't those Poly Boats stand out, that little one has a 24 volt 65lb Minn Kota and a tournament legal 60lt fully plumbed livewell. Its mainly used in the Bass Electrics, and is one of the best little set ups around. Not sure about taking it into the broadwater though.

Armoz - did someone say bourbon, just say when and where

[smiley=dizzy.gif]. How is the fishing up your way at the moment?

Spoke to Marty when we were fishing, he was up at the Pin getting stuck into the Flatties and being spoked by unstopables.

    Cheers

Yeah JT, I have 3 weeks off work to help Simon run the barra tour. So I'll be up there and be sure to catch up.

    Cheers.

The boss has been keeping me pretty busy and any chance seems to be blown out with 20knot+ a regular occurence. I musn't be committed enough, but I'll save those special times for tournaments and special practice sessions.

When I have got out there's always a few point scorers on the sp and have been having fun with pike on poppers for something different.

Weekend has been planned again with a trip to the outlaws at Redcliffe..
Might take the edgy down and try and sink some SP kyakers on the inshore reefs off scarborough on Sunday Morn if the weather holds out.

We'll have to arrange a trip with Marty on weekend down the Pin...we can drink and he can drive...
