    Personal Best Mackerel

well got away for a couple of days with lines in the water before xmas.
Was on the jetty at Kingfisher with live bait in the water by 8.30 am on the 18th.

The live bait was small and gettting smashed all around so it was a struggle to get much in the bucket. Eventually got some herring and half an hour later the wife got her first ever GT .

With wifey happy I tried some small slugs trying to match the bait I could see. About six casts in I got a good hit from the end of the wavebreak and the battle was on. At first I called it for quite a small mackerel but when I saw colour I goot a bit more excited (so did the fish).

A couple more great runs , happily into open water , the big Okuma cranked in a 94cm Broadbar.

Next day while trying to catch the wife more hering , she got bored and picked up my heay spin gear. The screams from the opposite end of the jetty told me in no uncertain terms that she was on!.
Next fish was 93cm and the wife did well keeping it out from the posts.

Last day saw us hit the jetty with only spin gear and me forfiting the heavy gear to Nicole. She had caught the bug!

There were quite a lot of people on the jetty first thing with large smashes through the bait schools regularly. That last morning saw quite a spectacle of wildlife with turtles, dugong, devil rays and dolphins showing up.

The mac tuna were on the boil and marauding mackerel still showing themselves.

Well half an hour into proceedings Nicole hooks up on what proved to be a PB.
104cm broadbar that did everything trying to get off. around the pylons, around the chains,.... not at all fighting fair. After a neat tail grab on first past of the bottom deck from my mate Greg we had our fill!

Three good broadbars in three days...... and let me tell you...... Great on the chew!
