Dr Freezes Parrot
Report from Friday 10th, sorry for the delay...
On the advice of some of our fellow ausfishers we took off with the boys
on "Inside Edge" after a week or huge seas we were releaved to see the later part of the week was gonna be a pearler.
The trip saw a local surgeon "Dr Freeze" take his first adventure off shore. Only experience on the water prior to this trip was
trolling for some tailor in the edgetracker out from Rainbow..
So Quelled up and ready to go (our learned collegue advised the ingredients in quells were equivalent to fly spray?)
But no one up and undered on the boat so who cares as long as they work.
Took off just after 5 am and headed for the bait grounds, after a couple of attempts - Ausfishers Jeffo finally lands a few livies.
(The first timer asked when he got a turn to fish and were those ones edible?) Moved on out to the banks for a pretty smooth run
and the fun began.
First drop Dr Freeze is loaded up, after some quite comical lifting and winding one of the biggest parrots I've seen 3.5kg+ is landed. Not bad for a first offshore fish (see pics on Outside edge report) We cetainly weren't smashed by a huge hook up rate but most fish boated were of a good size and reasonably constant came over the side. Best fish for the day included 4kg snappa/3.5kg parrot/9kg Ambo/ 3 kg kingy
After a number of hours of some solid fishing we decided to hunt for some pelagics, but no luck there.
All in all it was a good day and congrats on a good job from Andy and Jeffo for looking after us.
If your looking for a personalised charter (4 passangers) where you don't have to share with 20 other mugs, I can highly recommed Inside Edge.
The boat was well equipped and comfortable, the gear was up to date and in good order (didn't see an alvey all day) and only one suspect knot, but I can't remember who tied the line? #
