Unwelcome addition
Fished the Clarence River Bridge to Bridge Bass comp on the weekend.
Action was slow with most bass having a severe case of lockjaw. Following the two floods earlier this year, the main river has virtually no weedbeds.
The bad news is that it appears that Banded Grunters are now in the river probably following some contaminated stocking.!!

Good point Walrus. This is just one of the dangers of stocking. It is so easy for a pest species to be transported. The other is containation and shrinkage of the gene pool. If we don't have to stock (healthy river) we should try not to.

Re: Unwelcome addition
Stocking the Clarence system should not be necessary.
It would be better to concentrate on fixing bank erosion and pollution and nature will do the rest.
One thing I did not mention is that NSW Fisheries had a bloke there who'se job is to go round all major comps and promote their programs. He also collects all capture info to add to their database.
The data from the comp should already be on their wedsite.
