    How many hooks??

I have a mate from the Shaky Isles (nz) who fishes using a contiki with a long line using up to 12-15 hooks.
He reckons I could do this here legally by using only a maximin of 3 hooks.
    1. Am i allowed to use a contiki
    2. What is the legal amount of hooks allowed on any single line
    3. Does anyone out there use a contiki.

Ithought my mate was yanking my tackle when explaining the contiki set up untill he showed me a photo of 4 kahawai and a 15pound snapper.
    Any commnets welcome

    Daz,

Hand-lines or rod-lines with up to 6 hooks on each line are permitted. When fishing from a boat, no more than 3 lines per person are permitted.

As quoted from Dept. Fisheries website.

thats a about $4.00 down the drain every snag. then at least 20min re-rigging. but hey with that many hooks you should at least SNAG something. i use two hooks max. one high, one on the bottom only when i dont know what is biting or i know there is two species with different feeding habits in the area.
